Crafting and sewing

I have been sewing since I was a teenager, but only recently 'discovered' quilting.

My mom made the best heirloom quality quilts.  HAND quilted by the way.   I am not my mother's daughter in that regard.  Give me a machine and turn me loose!

I have discovered free motion quilting in the last month or so. At first I was frozen with terror to try anything like that but now find I just love it.  I have a long way to go and a LOT to learn...but the adventure so far has been a blast.     Now that I am retired...I needed a creative outlet and I think I found it in my quilting and the like.

My hubby got me a Viking Mega Quilter for Christmas and I've used that workhorse to death...it will sew anything and quilts like a dream.

I use my little Brother machine for zig zag and fancy stitches if I am embellishing something.

Another fun journey.....

A month or so has gone by....have begun to get interested in embroidery and looking at combo machines.  Seems a nice mid machine is a Janome MC9500.    Drooling now....will have to WAIT for a while. A long while..but a dream to have!!!    Making wall hangings and table toppers vs quilts right now...fun and fast...!!

  1. Discovered "Square in a Square" technique and now am obsessed with making those darn things. There aren't enough scraps in my scrap bins for me to make the little guys. Going to Pubelo Quilt Show and Market 4/2/2011. Can't wait.

  2. Cheyenne was here for 5 days and we made a tote for her together. Blue zebra stripe fabric. Had fun doing it as Nanny and granddaughter!

Working on hot pads, mini wall hangings and table toppers for the holidays. Considering selling online? We'll see.

Tea cozies are going over well. Bless Yvonne for taking orders for them for me....Beth wants 'Thomas the Tank Engine' valances for Nathan's room. Can't wait to get the fabric and work on it.
